Who can apply

From the school’s eligibility and application pages:

  • Where you live: the West Campus takes students living south of Okeechobee Road, east of SW 137th Avenue, west of the Palmetto Expressway and north of SW Eighth Street. That covers most of Doral.
  • Grades: at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA, with good attendance and citizenship.
  • Math: enrolled in Algebra 2 when applying, with the credit earned by the end of 10th grade.
  • Test scores: minimum scores on the PERT, ACCUPLACER NG, PSAT, SAT, ACT or CLT that place the student into Miami Dade College’s ENC 1101 and MAC 1105 courses.
  • Selection: when eligible applicants outnumber seats, “a random selection process will be utilized to admit eligible applicants,” the school says.

The school says it processes applications from October to early December, and it held information meetings for 10th graders in September and October 2026.

State report card

Florida grades every public school A to F. The Florida Department of Education says school grades “provide an easily understandable way to measure the performance of a school,” in its 2026 school grades overview. Because SAS students are juniors and seniors, its grade counts only two components: the graduation rate and college and career acceleration.

School year Grade
2025-26 A (99% of possible points)
2024-25 A
2023-24 A
  • Four-year graduation rate (2024-25): 98%
  • College and career acceleration (2024-25): 100% of graduates

Look up the full report card on the state’s Florida school report cards site.

Calendar and bell times

SAS follows the Miami-Dade calendar. From the district’s 2026-27 calendar (PDF):

  • Tuesday, Nov. 3: teacher planning day, no students
  • Wednesday, Nov. 11: Veterans Day, schools closed
  • Nov. 26-27: Thanksgiving holiday and recess day
  • Dec. 21 to Jan. 1: winter recess

The school’s website posts homeroom assignments and the opening schedule for each campus.

Sports and activities

SAS does not list teams of its own. Its scholar athletes page profiles students who compete for other high schools and clubs. The West Campus page lists more than 20 clubs and honor societies, from Mu Alpha Theta and HOSA to student government.
