Miami-Dade County picks up Doral household garbage twice a week and recycling every other week, plus two free bulky pickups a year. Call 311.
Last checked Oct. 8, 2026. Facts on this page come from Miami-Dade County’s Waste Collection page and related Department of Solid Waste Management pages. Updated when the county changes its schedule or fees.
The City of Doral does not run its own garbage trucks for homes. Doral is one of the cities where Miami-Dade County’s Department of Solid Waste Management picks up household garbage, recycling and bulky trash, the same service unincorporated Miami-Dade gets. Garbage goes twice a week, recycling every other week, and each home gets two free bulky pickups a year. Apartment and condominium buildings and businesses use private haulers that hold a city franchise.

What day is my pickup?
Most homes get automated pickup of the green waste cart two days each week. The days depend on your street. Type your address into the county’s garbage and recycling pickup days map to see your garbage days and your next recycling day.
| Service | How often | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Garbage and yard trimmings | Twice a week | Green cart |
| Recycling | Every other week | Recycling cart |
| Bulky trash | Two appointments a year | Curb, by appointment |
| Home chemicals, electronics | Drop-off only | West Dade Home Chemical Collection Center |
The cart rules
From the county’s Waste Collection page:
- Put the cart at the curb by 7 a.m. on your pickup day.
- Keep it within 3 feet of the street and at least 5 feet from mailboxes, parked cars and other obstacles, with the wheels facing your home.
- Close the lid. Carts with anything sticking out of the top are not emptied, and bags stacked beside the cart are not collected.
- Bag household garbage and yard clippings before they go in the cart. Grass, leaves and yard trimmings go in the green cart.
- Keep out of the cart: furniture and appliances, rocks, dirt, tile, construction debris, liquids, car batteries, propane tanks and home chemicals.
Every home gets a standard 96-gallon cart. Call 311 to swap it for a 35-gallon or 65-gallon cart, or to sign up for an extra cart for an annual fee. A cart damaged by the trucks is repaired or replaced free. If it is stolen, file a report with the Doral Police Department at 305-593-6699, then give the case number to 311 for a free replacement.
Holiday schedule
Pickup runs rain or shine on every holiday the county observes except three: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Independence Day and Christmas Day. After those, service resumes on your next scheduled pickup day. That means Columbus Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving pickups run as normal. The next skipped day is Friday, Dec. 25 for Friday homes.
Recycling
Recyclables from single-family homes are collected once every two weeks, according to the county’s recycling page, which also links the free Scrapp app for checking whether an item can go in the cart. Condominium and apartment buildings must provide their own recycling programs, and the City of Doral’s Solid Waste page says the franchised private haulers that serve them are required to offer recycling.
Bulky trash pickup
Each household is entitled to two bulky pickups a year of up to 25 cubic yards each, according to the county’s bulky waste page. Book first, then put the pile out:
- Schedule online through 311, in the MDC Solid Waste app or by calling 311. Dates open 30 days ahead.
- Put the pile out no more than three days before the appointment, and by 7 a.m. on the day. Piles out earlier can draw a warning or a civil citation.
- Keep it within 10 feet of the street, 5 feet from mailboxes, cars, trees and sprinkler heads, with 15 feet of clearance under branches and wires.
Accepted: furniture, rolled carpet, appliances (refrigerator and freezer doors removed), mattresses sealed in a plastic bag, up to four tires, tree limbs up to 5 feet long and up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris or wooden fence. Not accepted: microwaves, TVs and other electronics, food waste, auto parts, liquids, chemicals, oil-based paint, dirt, and any single item over 150 pounds. Cancel at least two days ahead online, in the app or at 311.
Trash and Recycling Centers
Doral homeowners who pay the county waste fee can also drop off household trash, yard waste, up to four tires and up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris at the county’s 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers, open daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bring a Florida driver’s license or ID with your address. None is inside Doral; the Snapper Creek center at 2200 SW 117th Ave. is about five miles south. The centers close on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Independence Day and Christmas Day.
Home chemicals and electronics
Paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs, small lithium batteries and electronics such as TVs and computers go to the county’s West Dade Home Chemical Collection Center at 8801 NW 58th St. in Doral, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Pack containers upright in boxes with lids tight and labels on. It is for households only.
What it costs
The service is billed as a non-ad valorem assessment on your yearly property tax bill, not monthly. For the county’s fiscal year that began Oct. 1, 2026, the fee schedule lists $702 a year for garbage, trash center access and recycling at a single-family home, duplex, triplex or fourplex, and $281 per unit for multifamily garbage and recycling. An extra green cart is $168 a year.
What this means for you

- Cart out by 7 a.m., lid closed, wheels toward the house.
- Book bulky pickups before you drag anything to the curb, and no more than three days early.
