Mayor Christi Fraga asks Doral employers to allow remote work during the Dec. 14-15 G20 summit and warns street closures may start before and last after it.
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga is asking businesses to let employees work from home during the G20 Leaders’ Summit, when parts of the city will be closed to traffic. The summit runs Monday, Dec. 14, and Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Trump National Doral Miami.
The request is in a letter to Doral business owners dated Tuesday, Oct. 27. The city posted it as an employer letter on its G20 page.
What the letter says
The city and its federal, state and county partners “are expected to temporarily close or restrict access to certain streets and access points within the City of Doral,” the letter says. It adds that “some of these measures may begin before and remain in place after the official summit dates.”
Fraga asks businesses in or near the affected area to:
- plan ahead for scheduled deliveries and vendor services
- prepare for other changes that could affect travel during the summit period
- let employees work remotely, where feasible, on the days when access restrictions and traffic are expected to be worst
The letter says the aim is to reduce congestion, support emergency and security operations and limit disruption to businesses.
What the city has not said yet
The letter does not name any closed street, checkpoint or start date. The city’s G20 page says traffic and security details will be shared “as operational plans are finalized.”
The city’s Building Department has already canceled inspections on Dec. 14-15 because of citywide road closures. Our Doral road closures page carries that notice and will add the street list when it is published.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools had not posted a G20 schedule change on its news site when we checked Wednesday. Parents should watch for notices from their own school.
